Open Door Rehab Facilities

If your loved one is blessed enough to make the decision to get help you know that there is a tough road ahead of them. They have done the first and most important step but the real work begins as you now need to make sure that they receive the best care available. For many addicts this means sending them off to a facility for a period of time where they can get better. There are literally hundreds of places they can go to get better so it can be a difficult decision to make but there are a few things you want to consider when placing them in a facility and it should help them in the road to recovery.

You need to know that the most popular and traditional type of facility on the rehab market is an open door facility. What this means is that your loved one is not obligated to stay there. You take them there and they sign themselves in. They have to agree to treatment before treatment begins. Once treatment begins they can check themselves out of the hospital any time they wish.

Now of course, to some this seems like a silly notion that you can check yourself out of a rehad facility because there are very few addicts who feel compelled to stay. But proponents of these types of treatment facilities say that this is the only way addicts get better. Having them stay in a place where they don’t want to be makes them feel trapped and draws them closer to the feeling of needing to use again.

The other factor in this is that addicts are not in rehab alone and if there is a person who feels forced to stay in rehab against their will then they may act out and disturb the rehabilitation of an addict who has fully committed themselves to getting better. So making a decision on the rehab home to send them to can be a tough one but know that the open door facilities believe in choices for the addict. After all, it’s their recovery.
