AA or Alcoholics Annoymous is a very important part of an addicts recovery from alcohol abuse. There are meetings all over the country and even in other countries so there is no reason that an addict would have to miss a meeting.
However, what do you do if you or someone you love can’t get to an AA meeting? There are a number or resources that a person can use to make sure that they get to their daily or weekly AA meeting.
Here is a list of ways to make sure that you get that ride to those AA meetings.
1. Call the AA meeting center. There are a lot of AA meeting places and centers that will arrange for one of their members to come pick you up for a meeting if you need it. As long as you call ahead of time and make arrangements they will try and find someone to come pick you up. After all your recovery is just as important to them as it is to you.
2.Check Bus Schedules. Many AA meetings are very accessible by public transportation. In fact there are hundreds of different meetings all over the area and most of them are directly on a bus route or near enough that you can walk to the meeting. Check online for a list of meetings for when and where they met and you’ll be able to find one that is on the bus route that you can take.
3. Ask a Friend. It might be uncomfortable to ask a friend or family member for a ride but it never hurts to ask for help. Simply ask if you can have a ride to the meeting and a supportive friend or family member will take you because it is important to your recovery.
Don’t let not having a ride hurt your chances of recovery by preventing you from attending AA meetings.
